Now Gertie was very wealthy – not just the usual type of wealthy, but ginormously wealthy. Her accounts totaled bazillions of dollars. She was at that place in life where she could feel the hours and days ticking away. She had no family and no real friends to speak of. She had lots of people who pretended to be her friends, but they all seemed to want things that only she could afford. She was generous and often taken advantage of.
